We are selling our 1978 leisure 23. We have owned her since 2019 and in that time have done extensive upgrades mainly geared towards medium term cruising and reliability.

We have completed several 2-3 week trips around the firth of clyde and south west Scotland. These trips have been documented on youtube - https://www.youtube.com/c/HiImJo

There is also a boat tour video filmed in the last few weeks that looks at the boat in detail, showing the work that has been done and my thoughts on what improvements I would make next if keeping the boat. We are selling her as we are looking to move to a larger boat to start travelling further afield.

In general she is in good condition for a boat of her age. There are no structural issues that I am aware off and could be put in the water today. The deck and cockpit area is cosmetically tired looking. Lots of remnants of things being attached and removed as well as some scuffs and spider cracks around. If I kept her I would spend my next maintenance week doing cosmetic repairs and repainting the top which would really make her shine.
The boat is very dry on the inside, excluding the usual condensation. There is a small leak on the starboard main window (only during heavy rain). Also a small leak in the porthole in the v-birth which I sealed with some sealant on the last trip. If I was keeping her I would remove the windows during the top deck work I mentioned above and re-seal. Because the windows are simply sandwiched against the boat this would not be a major job.

The only structural job that I am aware off is one of the chain plates on the starboard side has been subject to a pretty untidy repair by a previous owner. Removing the chainplate and redoing it would not be a huge job if you have rudimentary fibre glassing skills. I have monitored it since I bought the boat and it hasn’t changed in that time so appears to be structurally sound. There are some hairline cracks around it but they have not been progressing. It was also not raised as a concern during the rigging replacement this year.

The boat is stored at RB Marine in Rosneath and is available for viewing at any time (when the boat yard is open). She is not locked so you can view inside. I live in North Wales, most of the equipment for the boat is stored at my house (sails, cushions, engine, running rigging etc.). You are welcome to come to both places and view, or I can show you the equipment at my house via video call. If you buy the boat I will deliver the equipment to the boat, or anywhere closer as part of the purchase (subject to prior payment or a non-refundable £250 deposit). Please note delivery is subject to my availability but I will do my best to accommodate.

Good ad and pictures Timmy! I saw your videos in YT, very interesting.

The porthole and starboard main window leaks are common I think as I have exactly the same issues. I used some Captain Tolleys on the interior seal of the opening portlight. Resealing main windows is something I will get around to.

BTW the hawsepipe opening should be facing aft. Just something that bugged me while I was watching your videos ;-)

Best of luck with the sale.

Cheers, and yes the Hawsepipe facing forward also bugs me, despite me being the idiot that installed it that way. Would be a pretty easy fix to rotate but there are always more pressing jobs to do.....

Hi I really enjoyed your videos! Where did you get your sail cover and spray hood? I like how the latter is fixed all the way down the cabin sides, not just to the top. Thanks!
